Song: Das Beste
Artist: Silbermond
Album: Laut Gedacht
The perfect song for me to you.
Song: New Twin Sized Bed
Artist: Death Cab for Cutie
Album: Narrow Stairs
Favorite song off their latest album. Love the guitar lick.
Song: Good Souls
Artist: Starsailor
Album: Love Is Here
I couldn’t find the song I wanted to post, so this was the next best thing.
When I broke up with my ex-boyfriend, I made the promise that I would reconnect with and be a better friend (mainly by keeping in touch and hanging out more often than the “once-every-two-or-three-weeks” it seemed like).
Being as super busy as I have been, I really started to miss my friends and it started to take it’s toll on me emotionally.
I was set that this week I was going to call everyone and try to set aside time to meet up with each of them. I was finally able to spend sometime on the phone with a few of them last night and today, so I feel much better.
Song: Good Morning Baby
Artist: Dan Wilson and Bic Runga
Album: American Pie Soundtrack
Another repeat artist.
This is one of those songs on my “Life Soundtrack.”
It’s been one of those days weeks (and it’s only Tuesday, I might add).
But it’s getting better.
Song: Home and Dry
Artist: Pet Shop Boys
Album: Release
Song: Sway
Artist: Bic Runga
Album: Drive / American Pie Soundtrack
Loved the song the first time I heard it in the theater:
And here I go, losing my control
I’m practicing your name so I can say it to your face
It doesn’t seem right, to look you in the eye
Let all the things you mean to me
Come tumbling out my mouth…
She is also just as beautiful as the sound of her voice.
Song: Sunshower
Artist: Chris Cornell
Album: Great Expectations Soundtrack
I quickly went through my entire iPod (27GB!) and found quite a few songs I wanted to post. But to make things a bit easier, I’ve decided this week will be “Soundtrack week.”
I think this movie is what got me hooked on many Ethane Hawke and Gweneth Paltrow movies. I just really like the characters/roles they choose to play.
Song: Mi Buen Amor
Artist: Gloria Estefan
Album: Mi Tierra
Something to combat the previously posted emotionally-draining Spanish song from the other day. (I actually wanted to post “Con Los Anos Que Me Quedan” but the message in this song a bit happier.)
There is something so poetic about the lines “Que tu amor, amor solo el que un dia / En tu pecho, vida mia, me dio la felicidad” that just resonate within.
Song: Lonely Day
Artist: Phantom Planet
Album: The Guest
[Woke up in a shitty mood today and] I like how ironically “upbeat” the song sounds.
Alejandro Sanz - Corazon Partio (en vivo acustica)
This is such a sad song. I feel really (physically) heavy-hearted after reading the lyrics and listening to it. :_(

This song reminds me of (any sombre poem from) Pablo Neruda—a poet whose poems I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with over the last ten years.

Aquí te amo… (Poema XVIII)
Song: Love Will Come Through
Artist: Travis
Album: 12 Memories
Song: Hero/Heroine
Artist: Boys Like Girls
Album: Boys Like Girls
I feel like I’m too old sometimes when I listen to their album—the poppiness just sounds “young.” I still like them, though.
I like the idea of the song being about the guy and the girl being each other’s hero/heroine and spending their lives saving each other (romantically).
Holy cow!
This Reblog is partially dedicated to a girlfriend who, without giving in to too many details, is coincidentally finding herself in a very exciting (and vaguely familiar) circumstance. ;)
(“Distractions” as sung by Sia)
Song: Fallen For You
Artist: Sheilla Nicholls
Album: High Fidelity Soundtrack
Too tired to comment on this song. I actually downloaded this song a really long time ago by mistake—it wasn’t the song I thought it was.
At first, I didn’t like the singer’s voice. I don’t know, there was just something about it. But, after listening to the song, I started to really like the poetry of the lyrics.
For a while, I stayed away from watching John Cusak films. The roles he played were basically all the same and sort of “weird.” But, I think it was after watching Serendipity (not the best movie), I realized how charming his quirkiness was.
Song: It’s Written in the Stars
Artist: Paul Weller
Album: Illumination
I first heard and saw Paul Weller perform this live on Later…with Jools Holland yesterday.
By the time half the song was over, I was done downloading this mp3 from Amazon.
There is something really “happy” about this song. The trumpets at the beginning of the song just seem like they are blaring out this “declaration of love.”
I admit, the last 30 seconds of the song seem anti-climactic and just doesn’t make for a good ending to a great song. But, I still like it nonetheless.
