[“Found: One Lost Poem”]
I Love YouI love you.
Pure and simple.
Not in a “hey, let’s get freaky” kind of way.
Not even in a “I want to spend the rest of my life with you” kind of way,
though I do want to do that,
just not in matrimony.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m certain you’ll be a great wife someday,
just not mine.
The love I feel for you is more appreciatory than anything else.
I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.
I appreciate how you listen to me.
I appreciate how you let me listen to you.
Basically, my love is my way of thanking you for
appreciating who I am.
I love you for showing me you care.
I love you because anything less would be shameful.
I love you because you let me love you.
Back in July of last year, I asked Brian if he still had the poem he wrote to me at the end of high school. It just so happen to be the only poem ever written to and for me and I wanted to keep a copy of it. Call me sentimental. Several months later (tonight), it shows up in my inbox.
